First Steps in Mathematics
Facilitator Course
These 'train the trainer' courses are the most cost effective
way for schools or districts to deliver their own First Steps in
Mathematics courses to a large number of teachers. Facilitators
attending this comprehensive seven-day course
are provided with intensive training and support materials that
will help them provide high quality professional development and
ongoing support for other teachers.

make effective use of the First Steps in Mathematics materials
in their own classrooms. Teachers will have time to discuss and
explore crucial aspects of Key Understandings outlined in each
resource book.

First Steps in Mathematics
Leader Courses
As well as covering the content from the Teacher Course, these
four-day courses delve more deeply into content and focus on helping
mathematics leaders support other teachers as they implement First
Steps in Mathematics. During the course participants will
receive a range of practical processes to promote on-going implementation
at a school level as well as tips to provide effective coaching.
Administrators Workshop
This workshop recognizes that leadership is crucial to the successful
implementation of any professional development program. It is designed
to support school and district leaders, such as Principals and
administrative staff. The workshop explores the research behind
factors that influence the implementation of change in an educational
setting as well as providing practical ideas, formats, and processes
to create a supportive environment for teachers implementing First
Steps in Mathematics. |
